These’ll be the last in this series; I’ve got no other pictures of the fountain.

It’s a rather unremarkable fountain, now I think of it. What really counts is how you see it.

I’ve often thought that understanding of quantum mechanics (not to mention the universe) is a matter of perspective; we’re too big to really observe an atom, too small to see the universe (except in increments of, what, a few hundred yards, at best?). Point is, I realized my previous labels were off; those weren’t pictures of fountains so much as pictures of fountain water.
These are pictures of a fountain:

And just to prove it’s the same fountain:

Interesting to note it’s the first time you’ve really seen it, isn’t it?

There’s an old story that once, while walking around Princeton’s campus, Albert Einstein paused to observe a water fountain and found his attention completely captivated. I think I read in a Reader’s Digest that a fellow ambler recalled seeing Einstein watching a fountain while waving his hand before his eyes, and that his fascination ultimately led Einstein to the theory of light being made up of discrete quanta that behave as both particles and waves.

I wonder what Einstein saw.
Edit: I had to remove one because I accidentally deleted one of the pictures from Photobucket.

Last night, I thought, why restrict myself to one photo at a time? At that rate, I’d probably never post them all (even still, there’s always something new to look at).
So here are a few:

Splashy play fountains #2 through 4.

One thing I’ve learned I like to do is snap a series of pictures of the same subject. I have, like, 30 pictures of a flaming fireplace on my harddrive (the quickshutter on my SD1000 is pretty rad).
All of which is to say:

This isn’t the last time you’ll see a fountain here.
